Siren.Audio — Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 21, 2026 | Last updated: August 8, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Siren.Audio LLC ("Siren.Audio," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you use the Siren.Audio website and mobile applications (the "Service"). It forms part of our Terms of Service. If you do not agree with this Policy, do not use the Service.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you give us.
- Account information - your name, email address, password in hashed form, and basic profile information. If you sign in through Google, Apple, Facebook, or another supported provider, we receive the account information that provider makes available to us.
- Purchase, subscription, credit, and return information - Titles you buy, redeem, gift, return, or receive through promotions; membership status; credit and Store Credit activity; order history; return requests; chargebacks; and related billing information. Full payment-card numbers are handled by our payment processors, not stored by Siren.
- Content and communications - reviews, ratings, comments, profile details, support requests, rights complaints, DMCA notices or counter-notices, and other information you submit.
- Seller information - for creators and publishers, business and identity information, tax details, rights or contributor information, and bank or payout details needed for onboarding and payments. Some of this information is collected and verified by our payments partner.
1.2 Information we collect automatically.
- Listening and usage data - Titles and chapters you play, playback position and progress, playback speed, library activity, searches, browsing activity, and similar preferences used to operate and improve the Service.
- Transaction and abuse-prevention signals - purchase and redemption patterns, return activity, promotional usage, chargeback status, account-linkage indicators, seller payout activity, and fraud or risk signals used to secure the Service and enforce our policies.
- Device and log data - IP address, device and app identifiers, browser and operating-system type, app version, referring pages, timestamps, and diagnostic information.
- Cookies and similar technologies - used to keep you signed in, remember preferences and trusted devices, operate security features, hold cart state, and understand how the Service is used.
1.3 Information from others. We may receive limited information from service providers and third parties, including social-login confirmation, payment and fraud signals, app-store transaction status, email-delivery status, rights-holder complaints, and information supplied by co-contributors or payout participants.
2. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- create and manage accounts and authenticate sign-ins, including two-step verification;
- process purchases, subscriptions, credits, Store Credit, gifts, returns, refunds where applicable, promotions, chargebacks, and seller payouts;
- deliver, stream, protect, and preserve access to audiobook content, including maintaining prior purchasers' library access when a Seller unlists a Title;
- provide customer support and respond to account, billing, privacy, and rights-enforcement requests;
- send transactional messages such as receipts, renewal notices, security alerts, sign-in codes, return confirmations, and payout notices;
- detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, return abuse, promotion abuse, unauthorized content, security incidents, and violations of our agreements;
- verify seller eligibility and rights, administer payout holds or adjustments, and resolve copyright or other rights disputes;
- comply with legal, tax, accounting, reporting, and recordkeeping obligations and enforce our agreements; and
- measure, maintain, and improve the Service and develop new features.
Where required by law, our legal bases may include performing a contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, your consent, and compliance with legal obligations.
3. Payments
Website payments are processed by payment processors such as Stripe. When you pay, your payment-card details are transmitted to and handled by the processor under its own privacy policy. We generally receive transaction confirmation, limited card details such as brand and last four digits, billing region, and fraud signals, but not your full card number. Seller payouts are processed through connected-account services such as Stripe Connect, which may collect and verify identity, tax, and bank details.
Purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play are processed by the applicable store under its privacy policy. We receive transaction status and related purchase information, not your full payment-card details.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share personal information only as reasonably necessary in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. We share information with vendors that provide payment processing, hosting, databases, content delivery, search, transactional email, security, analytics, error monitoring, customer support, and similar functions under agreements or obligations limiting their use of the information.
- Sellers. When you buy or redeem a Seller's Title, we may provide limited transaction information needed to account for the sale, redemption, return, or payout. We do not provide your contact details to Sellers for their independent marketing unless you direct us to do so.
- App stores. Apple or Google process in-app transactions and exchange purchase status with us as necessary to deliver the transaction.
- Copyright and rights enforcement. Information contained in a DMCA notice, counter-notice, or other rights complaint may be shared with the person who submitted the affected content, the complaining party, service providers, legal counsel, or authorities when reasonably necessary to process the claim, defend rights, or comply with law.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information to comply with law or legal process, enforce agreements, investigate fraud or abuse, protect intellectual property, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Siren, our users, rights holders, or the public.
- Business transfers. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or part of our business, subject to applicable law.
- At your direction or with your consent. We may share information when you ask us to or consent to the sharing.
Some privacy laws define "sale," "sharing," or targeted advertising more broadly than a sale for money. If Siren engages in an activity covered by such a definition, we will provide any disclosure and opt-out mechanism required by applicable law.
5. Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide the Service. We may retain information after account deactivation, deletion, or termination when needed for legal, tax, accounting, payment reconciliation, fraud prevention, return-abuse prevention, rights enforcement, security, dispute resolution, or other legitimate recordkeeping purposes. Transaction, payout, infringement, chargeback, and financial records may be retained for the period required or permitted by law. When information is no longer needed, we delete, de-identify, or anonymize it where reasonably practicable.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
We use strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies for authentication, security, cart functions, and trusted-device features, and functional technologies to remember settings such as theme and playback preferences. Where non-essential technologies require consent, we will request it and honor applicable choices. You can also control cookies through your browser, although disabling necessary technologies may prevent parts of the Service from working.
7. Your choices
- Access and update. You can view and edit available profile and account details in settings.
- Marketing. If we send marketing messages, you can opt out using the unsubscribe mechanism or applicable settings. We may still send transactional, legal, security, and account messages.
- Listening data and preferences. You can manage available playback and preference settings in the Service.
- Deactivate or delete. Where available, you can deactivate your account or request permanent deletion through account settings.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent; appeal certain decisions; or exercise other rights without unlawful discrimination.
How to exercise. Email support@siren.audio or use in-product privacy tools where available. We may verify your identity before acting and will respond within the time required by applicable law. Authorized agents may submit requests where the law permits.
Data deletion page. We provide account-deletion tools in the Service and may provide a dedicated deletion request page at https://siren.audio/data-deletion.
Complaints and appeals. If we decline a request, you may appeal where applicable by replying to our response. You may also contact the data-protection or consumer-protection authority available in your jurisdiction.
We do not use personal information to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you without the safeguards required by applicable law.
9. Account deactivation and deletion
Deactivation, where offered, places an account in a reversible dormant state. Permanent deletion removes or de-identifies personal profile information where reasonably possible and ends your access to the Service and your licenses to Titles. We may retain transaction, financial, security, fraud, rights-enforcement, and other records described in Section 5.
10. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls, protected or time-limited content links, optional two-step verification, and monitoring for abuse and security incidents. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. We will provide breach notifications where required by law.
11. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, contact support@siren.audio. Users between 13 and the age of majority where they live may use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian as described in our Terms.
12. International transfers
We and our service providers may process or store information in countries other than the country where you live, including the United States. Where required by law, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Policy with a new "Last updated" date and provide any additional notice required by law. Changes apply prospectively unless otherwise stated or required by law.
