Privacy policy

What we collect

• Account info — name, email, hashed password. Profile fields you choose to fill in (display name, bio for creators / publishers).
• Purchase + subscription data — orders, entitlements, credit ledger. Payments are processed by our payment partners (Stripe for standard content, SegPay or CCBill for 18+ content); we receive transaction status and a reference id, not your full card details.
• Listening activity — which chapter you're on and where in it (so resume works), bookmarks you create, sleep-timer settings. We don't sell this and it's only visible inside your own account.
• Tax info for sellers — legal name, entity type, address, and a hashed copy of your tax ID for 1099 reporting. The full tax ID is never stored in plaintext; only the last four digits are kept human-readable.
• Diagnostic data — basic request logs (timestamp, route, status code, IP) for security and debugging. Sentry receives uncaught error reports.

Why we collect it

To run the service (accounts, library, playback resume, refunds, payouts to sellers, tax reporting), to keep it secure (abuse detection, fraud prevention), to send the few transactional emails the service generates (verification, password reset, receipts, review outcomes), and to comply with the law (chargebacks, subpoenas, tax filings).

Third parties we share with

Only the minimum each one needs to do its job:

• WooCommerce + Stripe / SegPay / CCBill — payment processing.
• Resend — transactional email delivery.
• Cloudflare R2 — audio + cover storage.
• Railway — application hosting and Postgres.
• Typesense — catalog search.
• Sentry — error monitoring.

We don't sell personal data to advertisers, and we don't use third-party tracking beacons on the storefront.

How long we keep it

Account + purchase history: while your account is active, plus a 7-year retention for transaction records (US tax requirement). Listening progress + bookmarks: deleted along with the account. Diagnostic logs: 30 days. Error reports in Sentry: 90 days.

Your choices

You can edit or delete your profile from /account, close your account from the same page, and request a copy of everything we have on you by emailing us at /contact. Closing the account anonymizes the user record while preserving order history we're legally required to keep.

Cookies

We use cookies for session login (so you stay signed in), age confirmation (so you don't re-confirm 18+ on every visit), and cart contents. No third-party advertising cookies. If you block cookies entirely, sign-in won't work.

Kids

Siren.Audio is not directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them. If you're a parent or guardian and believe a child has signed up, email us and we'll close the account.

Changes

We'll post material changes to this page and notify account holders by email when the change is significant.
